biography
Jac Bico has a colorful guitar history working with Dutch and international artists. Inevitably a solo album would appear which is both a distillation of prior incarnations as well as a set of songs which break new ground. Zip Records was proud to release “Together Alone" in December 2021.
Bico’s formal music training started and ended with three years at the Utrecht music conservatory in the Netherlands. Drawn to the real world, he joined new wave band Piu Piu in the early eighties. Befriending Bart van Poppel, moving to Amsterdam and founding band “Tambourine” , Jac Bico soon notched his first modest hits.
Never one to sit still, he played guitar with the well known Lois Lane, BeeSwamp and Powderblue as well as French band Niagara. With too many collaborations to mention, Jac also became a noted session player and sought after musical theater accompanist. His influence was broadened even further through an instructional DVD for US company Truefire, which caused a kind of guitarist diaspora for his unique take on British Invasion guitar techniques. Bico’s other claim to fame was his becoming a founding member and lead guitarist with band The Analogues. Deemed the finest Beatles cover band in the world by critics, The Analogues regularly sell out arenas in the Benelux and other European territories.
Album “Alone Together” is a truly ground breaking attempt to distill lush orchestrated songs into a solo guitar album. Although all songs were originally written and recorded by others, Bico has adapted each one in a way that has attracted the attention of music journalists who thought they had “heard it all”.
After releasing the single "Summer Song" in the summer of 2023, Bico was inspired to record a followup to "Alone Together". Coming out in April of 2024, album "Dear Someone" continues the legacy of inspired (mostly) solo guitar renditions of classic and original songs.
