biography
Tamy represents the first foray of Zip Records into the cool bossa nova sounds from Brazil. Her album “Caieira” is the newest album and was originally released in Brazil in 2013.
Tamy has had an illustrious singing career that began in 2002 in Vitoria, Brazil. She released her first album in 2006 and as a result of the success of this release, she toured throughout Europe, Japan, Angola and other parts of the world.
The followed CD “Tamy” came out in 2008 and one of the tracks became wildly popular after appearing as the theme song from the movie “Living Life”. Tamy has appeared on the prestigious “Music Prize Brazil” awards program and has collaborated with many top names in the Brazilian music world.
“Caieira” is Tamy’s third album and was recorded in Rio de Janeiro with notable local artist. One of the tracks also appeared in the Brazilian popular film “A Onda da Vida” and another song “Mae Africa” includes the Congolese musician Lokua Kanza. This album contains the breezy, joyful bossa nova sounds that Americans have enjoyed since the days of Astrud Gilberto (“Girl From Ipanema”). The melodies transport us to the endless summer of the Brazilian coast and can be enjoyed by fans of not only world music, but also pop, jazz and “tropical singer/songwriters”.
Tamy is expecting to make appearances in the U.S. to support the release of the album. These shows will occur in the northern winter. Publicity for the album will be scheduled soon with the target media inclusive of world music magazines and websites plus appeals to the legions of Brazilian music fans throughout the country.
