THE first signing to Zip Records, thirst is a band which holds a special place in our hearts. Hailing from deepest, darkest Portsmouth, U.K., thirst have been steadily building a reputation for themselves on the live circuit and their debut album “From Mouth to Skin” spawned four hit singles in the U.K. in 2000 and 2001.
The band not only survived the brutal British music press ballyhoo, but prospered with “Album of the Month” (Rock Sound), “KKKK” (Kerrang!) and a rip roaring endorsement from Melody Maker back in the early days of 2000.
thirst is a rock band in the truest sense. It’s all these things, …..tough, melodic, grunge, “monster riffic”, metal and pop, with lead singer Chris Perrin demonstrating energy and emotion which leaps out the speakers. Compared to Nirvana fronted by Jeff Buckley, and Neil Young backed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band takes all these elements and create unconsciously cool songs with no help from anyone. They’ve got that British knack for tunes and universal melodies to die for.

You’ll note impressive tour dates with Bush, Therapy?, My Vitriol, Llama Farmer, etc. On their initial U.S. tour, they were supported by Lisa Loeb a delightful contrast of styles!
The tracks “Wayforward” and “Silly Astronaut” can be seen in the acclaimed feature U.S. film “Throttle” distributed in 2003.
